01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Located in the heart of Sutton, West Virginia, China Buffet offers a comforting culinary journey into the rich and diverse world of Chinese cuisine through its extensive buffet selection. This casual dining spot is well-loved for a variety of flavorful dishes that balance classic favorites with refreshing specials that cater to a range of tastes and dietary preferences.

The buffet’s menu is a delightful showcase of traditional dishes such as Hunan Chicken, General Tso's Chicken, Pepper Steak, and Beef with Mixed Vegetables, each offering distinct layers of bold spices, tender meats, and vibrant vegetables. For seafood lovers, shrimp is featured in various appetizing styles including Shrimp with String Beans, Shrimp Hunan Style, and Shrimp with Snow Peas, delivering that perfect balance of freshness and savory depth. Notably, the buffet also thoughtfully includes a special diet menu with steamed options like Steamed Bean Curd with Vegetables and Steamed White Meat Chicken with Vegetables, catering to guests seeking lighter, health-conscious choices.

The atmosphere at China Buffet leans toward simplicity and functionality rather than elaborate décor, which allows the focus to remain on the quality and variety of the food. The layout is clean and organized, fostering a steady flow of local patrons who clearly appreciate the value and flavors offered. While the dining environment is unpretentious, the inviting aromas of stir-fry and fragrant sauces wafting through the air create an enticing welcome.

Feedback from visitors reflects a generally positive experience with some mixed notes on service and food temperature. Guests frequently praise standout items like the hot and sour soup and frog legs, which appear to be crowd favorites. While some have noted occasional inconsistencies with food warmth and server demeanor, others emphasize the fair pricing and overall good quality that keep them returning. One guest’s comment on accommodating special dietary needs highlights an area for improvement in customer service, but the attentiveness of other staff members balances the experience.

For travelers or locals seeking a hearty, diverse meal in a laid-back setting, China Buffet presents an appealing option that satisfies cravings for authentic Chinese flavors without pretense. With generous portions and an array of savory dishes ranging from Moo Shu Pork to Sweet & Sour Pork, this buffet provides not just a meal but a little culinary adventure at an affordable price point.

Service was on par for a buffet. Arrived after 7 pm so my expectations were low. Some of the food could of been warmed up better. I would go back just for the frog legs and hot and sour soup.

Food was good, and I had a great time with my kid and his gf but the looks the one server kept giving me was absolutely awful. Although the lady we saw (also a worker) smiled and thanked us, and invited us back. So i guess it made up for our server who seemed to have a crappy attitude towards us.

This was our first time here, and we were just traveling through from out-of-town, so weren't sure how it would be. The facilities were simple without a lot of the usual oriental decorations, but seemed clean and organized. While we were there, there was a steady flow of customers, apparently locals. There servers weren't the most friendly, but that could have just been a cultural thing. Everything we ate from the buffet was good. It was all mostly at least warm, some hot. The cook was constantly refreshing the buffet, keeping it fresh. The price seemed a bit high, but the choices were good and there was a wide variety. We would eat there again and recommend it to others.

I have trouble eating buffet due to a medical condition, eating small amounts. I went got my two plates salad and the other rice noodles and mushrooms. Im allergic to meat and gluten. I paid and tipped and asked for a very small to go cup to take off my plate home to finish later. She threw fit and say no take home, I said I ate very little and I have a medical condition after paying $15. I finial had to say I had to say out loud I had cancer can't eat much at once to get a cup take home. That's crazy to throw away food instead of letting a lady you seen not pig out!

The food is really good just sometimes a little cold. I still go there often because it's better than most. The staff is very nice and the price is fair.

On an adventure featuring some back roads, a need of somewhat rare sandals, and an hour to invest in good food, I dropped into the buffet. I was wary, as I'd had two bad experiences in the past. This one made up for it though. It was clean, the staff were prompt, the buffet was replenished as necessary. The food was mostly decent. The Crab Rangoon was fairly good, thr General Tso's Chicken and Lo Me in were at or above average depending on the preference. The food was pretty good and it had a better atmosphere and experience than I remembered. I would say it's an above average stop in central West Virginia.

It was very slow when I visited, but I was very pleasantly surprised. They had a nice selection of food options, most of which seemed fresh and all of which were appropriate temperature. They even had a small, but very nice, selection for salad. Staff was attentive to the few customers that they did have. Buffet and dining areas both were clean and tidy. Food was refreshed at regular intervals despite low customer volume on this day. Everything was delicious. I would 100% recommend.
